If you walk in Bari city centre, it is impossible not to see a great monument that the Barisian are proud of: Teatro Petruzzelli, the fourth Italian Opera House! A late 19th century theatre, with more then 2000 seats. After the reconstruction due to a disastrous fire, this culture institution is demonstrating a fantastic re-birth with more and more successful performances. I think it can be an original opportunity to visit Puglia and experience one of outstanding scheduled performances in this incredible cultural jewellery! Attending an Opera, Ballet or Orchestra Concert here will leave you a wonderful memory of this piece of Italy. During this travel, you will enjoy also other monumental old towns and of course the well-known local cuisine and wine!

My name is Piero, I organize and leads this special journey in my region: Puglia, Italy!

You can choose your performance and your arrival date, IDILLIO D'ARTE will do the rest!

Places: Polignano a Mare, Conversano, Bari, Locorotondo, Alberobello, Monopoli – Puglia, Italy

First Day – We will meet at your arrival place and travel to the Hotel; in the afternoon I will introduce you the itinerary and collect your requests; afterwards we will drive to Polignano a Mare and have a walk through the old centre, which is perched atop a twenty meters high limestone cliff above crystal clear water, from here you will enjoy one of the most enchanting view in Italy; then we will descent to Lama Monachile for a first impression about the erosion made by temporary water flows; this place is also our beach where we swim all over the year! We will conclude this first day by a pizza in the pedestrian area. Return to Hotel.

Second Day – An Apulian town that I like really a lot is surely Conversano, not only for its monuments, but also for its mediaeval stories; a guided walk through its marvellous alleyways, will reveal an old centre composed by white stones, stories and legends, where the coexistence of Lords, Abbesses and Bishops was never easy. See what remains of an important heritage: the Castle, the Monastery and the Cathedral; the guide will also narrate facts and tales related to those places... Afterwards you will have some hours of relax before to drive to Bari for your Opera Evening! An aperitif to an elegant bar on the theatre site will precede you entrance in the elegant and eternal Petruzzelli Theatre, where you will take one of the first balcony seats (gradinata 3° ordine). Return to the Hotel.

Third Day – The strength of society in Puglia are very active young people mixing traditions and contemporaneity: Gianni is one of them, and in the morning we will visit in a group his family's cellar on the countryside close to Locorotondo: your wine experience will include a pleasant wine tasting with local tasty snacks in the vineyard and the visit of the production. We will then stroll around the beautiful round old centre that you could see from the fields: Locorotondo. After a break we will drive to Alberobello to visit the UNESCO site, an area where the Trulli (unique cone-roofed houses) are located so close to one another. After those interesting expenses, we will have a break in the Hotel. The evening will be in Monopoli to have first a walk in the marvellous old centre, one of the most beautiful sea town in Italy, then an excellent seafood dinner for your last night. Return to the Hotel.

Fourth Day – Depending from your departure time, we will explore the old city of Bari, a typical Mediterranean fortified old centre, where you will experience the evident and interesting difference from the "New Town". We will then drive together to your departure place or continue your journey in the Apulia region.
